These 3 meta-analysis studies was published 2008 current medical research and opinion (IF 2008:2.653) and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IF 2013: 3.293) these studies were about the treatments of knee osteoarthritis with intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid.
Results
Result of all the studies suggested that hyaluronic acid is a safe and effective treatment for knee OA. The authors of the second article suggested that in an effort to limit cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and renal safety concerns with COX-2 selective and nonselective NSAIDs and maximize HA efficacy, the authors proposed using HA earlier in the treatment paradigm for knee OA and also as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy. Also the authors of third article claim that hyaluronic acid is superior to reference therapy.
