The use of hyaluronic acid-based dressings to treat burns: A review
This review article was published in 2014 in Burns & Trauma Journal (IF 2015:2.09) by Italian specialists. This narrative monograph describes the development and the outcome of the use of these products in burns.
In conclusion, important tools based on HA biopolymers are now available for the treatment of acute wounds, such as burns. These biomaterials have been designed and developed to realize advanced dressings able to protect the wound and facilitate healing combining the properties of HA and the improved characteristics of the ester derivatives which assure long term residence time and processability.
