The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of hyaluronic acid in the treatment of stage III and IV pressure ulcers in patients with hypoalbuminemia. Eight consecutive patients with pressure ulcers and hypoalbuminemia, who came to the Wound Healing Center, were treated with daily application of 0.2% hyaluronic acid cream for a period of maximum 6 weeks.
Results
In this series of 8 patients, 2% hyaluronic acid cream was effective in the treatment of stages III and IV pressure ulcers in the presence of hypoalbuminemia.
