Hyaluronic acid in the treatment of postmenopausal women with atrophic vaginitis.
This clinical trial was published in 2011 in journal of Int J Gynaecol Obstet. (IF 2016:2.17) by Turkish specialists. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of hyaluronic acid (a non-hormonal compound) on postmenopausal patients with atrophic vaginitis symptoms. Treatment was started with a 5-mg intravaginal dose of sodium hyaluronate on alternate days for 2 weeks.
Hyaluronic acid should also be considered for use among the general postmenopausal population as an alternative to intravaginal estrogen in the treatment of atrophic vaginitis.
