Efficacy of using a fibrin-alginate hydrogel containing hyaluronic acid (HA) and/or chondroitin sulphate (CS) supplements for chondrocyte culture
The Effect of Chondroitin Sulphate and Hyaluronic Acid on Chondrocytes Cultured within a Fibrin-Alginate Hydrogel.
Article specifications
This clinical trial was published in 2014 in Journal of J Funct Biomater. (IF 2017: 2.690) by Canadian specialists. This study aimed to test the efficacy of using a fibrin-alginate hydrogel containing hyaluronic acid (HA) and/or chondroitin sulphate (CS) supplements for chondrocyte culture.
Results
This study demonstrates that CS and HA supplements, either alone or in combination, enhance matrix GAG accumulation and cell proliferation by articular chondrocytes embedded in 3D fibrin-alginate hydrogels.
