Efficacy of low molecular weight intra-articular hyaluronic acid (LMW IA-HA,1.4X106 Dalton) and high molecular weight intraarticular hyaluronic acid (HMW IA-HA 6X106 Dalton) in knee osteoarthritis

COMPARATIVE EFFICACY OF LOW- AND HIGHMOLECULAR WEIGHT INTRA-ARTICULAR HYALURONIC ACIDS IN PATIENTS WITH KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS

Article specifications

This original article was published in 2009 in Journal of J Health Res. by Thailand specialists. The objective of this study was to compare the efficacy of low molecular weight intra-articular hyaluronic acid (LMW IA-HA,1.4X106 Dalton) and high molecular weight intraarticular hyaluronic acid (HMW IA-HA 6X106 Dalton) in the right/left knee of each patient.

Result

Both LMW (hyaluronan) and HMW (hylan G-F 20) IA-HAs gave significant clinical improvement during the 12 weeks of follow-up. There was no significant difference in the primary outcome between both drugs in the left and right knee of each patient.
