The aim of this study was to compare the safety and efficacy of hyaluronan (HA) injections with standard extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) in the treatment of painful midportion Achilles' tendinopathy.

 

Results

Two peritendinous HA injections resulted in significant symptomatic pain relief and improvement in function in patients with Achilles’ midportion tendinopathy, with a low risk for adverse events.
